Driving Tests

Before gaining your full driving licence, you will need to pass both a theory and a practical driving test.
Littleover Driving School recommends that you study for your theory test around your practical driving lessons as there is a lot of material to cover. Your instructor can help if you are having difficulty with any part of your theory test studies.
More information on each test can be found below.

Theory Test

The theory test is taken at the Pearson theory test centre. You must arrive in plenty of time and secure all belongings in a locker before entering the test room.
You will then sit both a Multiple Choice Question Paper followed by a Hazard Perception Test - these must both be completed in the same session. You must pass both the Multiple Choice Questions and the Hazard Perception Test in order to pass the theory test.
The pass mark for the Multiple Choice Question Paper is 43/50. The pass mark for the Hazard Perception Test is 44/75.

Practical Test

The practical driving test is taken at the DVSA driving test centre. You will use the car you have been learning in to take the test. On the day of your test your instructor will pick you up with plenty of time to have some last minute practice an get to the test centre.

You will be asked to complete an eyesight test and vehicle safefty questions (Show me, Tell me) as well as demonstrate your driving skill. The test is around 40 minutes long with 20 minutes of independant driving. The test will include one manoeuvre and possibly an emergency stop. At the end of the test you will be told whether you have passed or failed. Your instructor will drive you home, regardless of the result.
